YEAR OF MERCY - A Night Prayer

AS DAY FADES . .

I TAKE TIME TO REPEAT THE MANTRA

"Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner."

I TAKE TIME TO CONSIDER

"How did I experience mercy from another today?"

"Did another experience mercy through me today?"

I TAKE TIME TO ACKKNOWLEDGE

My relationship with others

My relationship with creation

My relationship with self

My relationship with God

I begin in the name of the Father God, my creator

I take a moment to be still, to allow a sense of the Creator God to enter me (Pause)

I contemplate the name of the Son and Redeemer God, my brother

I take a moment to allow a sense of the shepherd carrying me upon His shoulders to envelop me. (Pause)

I savour the name of the Holy Spirit, my comforter

I take a moment to feel the movement of God's spirit within, calling me more deeply into prayer. (Pause)

With the Church throughout the world, I pray: Save us, Lord while we are awake. Protect us while we sleep that we may keep watch with Christ and rest with Him in peace. Amen.

At the end of this day, You give leave to me, O Lord, to rest in Your peace.

In glimpses of the day that is gone I have seen moments of Your presence

I have known You as the Light that guides and leads me

Give praise to God who create

Give praise to God who redeems

Give praise to God who blessus, now and forever. Amen.

Save us, Lord while we are awake. Protect us while we sleep that we may keep watch with Christ and rest with Him in peace.

Lord Jesus, You have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father,

and have told us that whoever sees You, sees Him.

Show us Your face and we will be saved.

You are the visible face of the invisible Father,

of the God who manifests His power above all by forgiveness and mercy.

Send Your Spirit

and consecrate every one of us with Your anointing

so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord,

and Your Church, with renewed enthusiasm,

may bring good news to the poor,

proclaim liberty to the captive and the oppressed,

and restore sight to the blind.

We ask this through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy,

You who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen

The Lord grant me a quiet night and a perfect end. Amen.
