YEAR OF MERCY - Mercying Fragile Families

Let us mercy family relationships that are fragile

Hymn. Oh the love of my Lord is the essence

L: In this time of prayer, we offer intercession for families who are not at peace, for relationships that are fragile.

L: In the quiet, we name the people and situations we want to bring before God this evening.

(Quiet naming of persons for whom we are offering this period of intercession.)

Litany of Petition:

L: We are gathered here this evening, united in faith and yet aware of divisions and strife. Here in the peace of Christ’s presence we intercede for those who are struggling to be at peace with one another.

Let us bend God's ear of mercy towards those in need . . .

For family where there is estrangement

For family where brothers or sisters do not speak

For marriage relationships that are under strain

For relationships where a third party is causing difficulties

For children who are living in a situation where there is bickering

For those who are unfree to be themselves in their own home

For parents who struggle to understand their children

For situations where there has been a complete breakdown

Scripture Matthew 5:1 - 12

L:We pray (Psalm 129) Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord,

Time of Reflection/ Instrumental music

Litany of Thanksgiving.

L: In the quiet, we think of the many people we know who are affected by broken or fragile relationships. Let us pray for those who do what they can to support others who are in difficulties. (Allow a few moments of quiet)

L:In gratitude for those who mercy others we pray:

For parents and grandparents who support the young in times of family conflictR/ We give you thanks, O Lord

For foster and adoptive parents in care of children R/

For agencies who help find hope and homes for children from broken situations R/

For generous and accepting people who offer practical help in time of crisis R/

For those who open the arms of mercy to include new relationships R/

For those who mercy others through their prayerful intercession R/

For those who offer spiritual support to those seeking direction R/

For those who offer a listening ear and compassionate heart R/

Concluding Prayer

God of Mercy

We pray a blessing this evening

on relationships that are fragile, relationships that are broken.

As we continue to carry our loved ones

on the shoulder of Your mercy,

draw them close to You.

Hear the prayers we offer

for their healing and their peace.

We ask this in the name of Jesus, our brother and friend. Amen.
